There was excitement at the Tonga Golf Club last Saturday, 9 April, when the Prime Minister, Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva joined the club’s after match gathering, and presented the prizes for the day’s golf competition.

The Stableford event had two categories, a Senior Competition and a Junior Competition 

Club Captain, Bernie Poort, Manager of the ANZ Bank was MC for the event, which was sponsored by Adiloa Stores.

The winners in the Senior Competition were:

• Winner Ms Hitomi Obata (Japanese Embassy) 41pts
• 1^st Runner Up Peter Whelan (Guest) 39pts
• 2^nd Runner Up Ngongo Kioa 37pts
• 3^rd Runner Up Fr Paulo Amato 36pts
• 4^th Runner Up Taufa Ahome’e 4pts
• 5^th Runner Up Piveni Piukala 34pts
• Most Golf, Mr Shoichi Iwata 22pts

The winners of the Juniors Competition were:

• Winner Folau Fiefia 38pts
• 1^st Runner Up Filipe Tupou 37pts
• 2^nd Runner Up Tevita Tupou 37pts
• 3^rd Runner Up Soane Lea’aetoa 37pts

There were also prizes, sponsored by Kramer Ausenco, for the weekly Chook Run, which is held during the weekdays.

The winners of the Chook Run were:

• Winner, Viliami Tangimana 22pts
• Runner Up, Bernie Poort 9pts
