The ‘Ikale Tahi defeated Romania 21-16 in its final Rugby World Cup warm-up match held on Saturday, 5 September, at Stadionul National de Rugby Archu de Triumfin, Bucharest.
It was a significant match for the team as they played in support of Sione Vaiomo’unga, a former ‘Ikale Tahi flanker and Romanian club, CSM Baia Marie player who was diagnosed with renal failure last year.
More than $10,000 euro was raised from the match for the ongoing care of Vaiomo’unga.
The team had initially beaten Nottingham Rugby 69-14 in its first warm up game held at Lady Bay Sports Ground on 28 August.
