1. Cadet Officer

  • Bachelor’s degree with no working experience, OR
  • Diploma Certificate with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role or at least 5 years of relevant working experience.

Qualifications acceptable for this role must be in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a closely related field from a recognized Educational Institution or University.

2. Cadet Officer
(Account Officer)

  • Bachelor’s degree with no working experience, OR
  • Diploma Certificate with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role or at least 5 years relevant working experience

Qualifications acceptable for this role must be in Accounting, Finance, Management or a closely related field from a recognized Educational Institution or University.

3. Prison Officer Class II
(Choir Conductor)

  • Diploma Level 5/6 with no working experience, OR
  • Certificate Level 4 with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience, OR
  • Form 7 Certificate with at least four (4) years of relevant work experience, OR
  • Form 6 Certificate with at least seven (7) years of relevant work experience.

Applicants must possess knowledge and practical experience in the field of music, particularly in teaching and developing the musical talents of inmates, and must also be able to operate, set up, and maintain musical instruments and equipment.

4. Recruit Prison Officer R
($13,355.00 – $20,033.00)
  • Form 5 TSC or equivalent or Certificate level 2.

Applicants for these positions must be physically fit, healthy, and strong with the ability to carry out assigned duties with diligence, discipline, good character, respect, and responsibility. Candidates must possess the appropriate work experience and the necessary educational qualifications relevant to the positions advertised. Applicants should also have good communication skills in both English and Tongan. The age required is between 18 to 45 years old.

The key responsibilities of these positions include:

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of prisoners in the areas under their supervision.
  • Transporting and returning prisoners from various facilities, such as hospitals, courts, or other designated locations.
  • Assisting in the education and rehabilitation of prisoners to help them reintegrate into society as responsible and productive members of their families, communities, and the nation.
  • Performing duties diligently, efficiently, and in accordance with instructions, as well as carrying out any other tasks as required.
  • Effectively supervising and caring for prisoners during working hours.
  • Serving as a positive role model for prisoners under their care, demonstrating guidance, leadership, and proper conduct

Application Guidelines

Applicants must submit a handwritten letter of application. Applications should include certified copies of Academic Qualifications, updated Curriculum Vitae (CV), two (2) letters of Reference from your current or most recent employer or school. Birth Certificate, and a Police Certificate. Civil Servants intending to apply must submit their applications with the approval of their respective Chief Executive Officer.
