1. Marine Engineer
We are currently looking for Chief Engineers, holding a minimum of a Marine Engineer Class 3 for our Tugboats operating on the TONGA coastal waters.
The Engineer is responsible for the mechanical and electrical performance of the vessels’ propulsion, power generation and ancillary systems.
Some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities of the position include:
- Safe and Efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all machinery onboard including deck and communication equipment.
- Carrying out watchkeeping duties in either a manned or periodically unmanned engine room.
- Reporting on ship maintenance using the PMS system.
- Reporting defects and failures as required by the reporting systems and SMS.
- Ensuring all Health and safety procedures are complied with and ensure personnel work safely at all times.
Candidates must hold the following:
- TONGA MEC3 Marine Engineer qualification or TONGA recognized equivalent.
- Current valid STCW ancillary certificates
- Valid Medical Certificate of fitness for seafarers

2. Maritime Security Guards Vacancies
The Ports Authority Tonga is seeking to recruit competent, committed, self-motivated, healthy, enthusiastic and well-disciplined male and females’ candidates to work as security guards within the security divisions at the international and domestic wharves. Successful candidates will report directly to the Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO).
Candidates must hold the following:
- No criminal records;
- Passed Form 7 minimum;
- Must be between the ages of 20-35years of age;
- Must be healthy and active;
- Communicate efficiently via radio and phone;
- Must be computer literate;
- Must be a well-disciplined team player;
- Must be efficient and committed to the job; and
- Two (2) or more years’ military and policing working experience is preferable;
3. Finance Supervisor
We are looking for a Finance Supervisor that is responsible for managing and monitoring both receivables and payables are being entered correctly into our accounting system by sub- ordinates. It includes assisting Manager Finance – account in producing financial reports and managing major projects within the Authority. This position also includes drafting process manual that would assist sub-ordinates with their daily operations.
Candidates must hold the following:
- Undergraduate in Business or Accounting or in the related fields
- Diploma with 5 years experience on finance supervisory roles
- Computer literate with good skills in Microsoft Office pages (Word, Excel and Access)
- Knowledge of computerized ERP systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Business acumen
- Good leadership skills
- Detail oriented
