The Tonga National Center for Women and Children is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experience applicant for the following vacant position:

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Social Sciences, Development, Gender Sociology, Psychology). Having Post Graduate Diploma or Master in the relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in grant management or project management, preferably within donor funded Programs or Projects
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in addressing Violence against Women and Girls, gender equality, women’s economic empowerment or related field.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both in Tongan and English languages
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines and maintaining a professional appearance and demeanour in all situations and contexts.
  • Commitment to adhering to the philosophy, mission, constitution and policies of TNCWC (notably its Child Protection Policy) and donor ethics.
  • Skills to be empathetic, non-judgmental, supportive, respectful and empowering in working with women and children survivors of violence.
  • Capable of working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders, including government, donor, and community organisations.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the dynamics of, and appropriate response to violence against women and girls and women’s economic empowerment
  • Proven experience as program director or other managerial position.
  • Experience in providing training, support and mentoring
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license or ability to attain a licence.

Salary Range: TOP$40,000 - $45,000

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel overseas and in-country.

Finance & Administration Officer

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting or business.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience working in financial management, grant management or project management, preferably within donor funded Programs or Projects
  • Experience in providing financial management training, support and mentoring
  • Demonstrated ability in managing payroll, day to day Program/Project expenditure, logistics, filing (electronic/manual), asset management and payment disbursements
  • High level computing skills with experience in word processing, spreadsheets, database and email. Proficiency in MYOB will be an added advantage
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in liaising with a range of partners, stakeholders and vendors
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work as part of a small team while also being able to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively at a range of administrative levels
  • Sound time and management skills

Salary Range: TOP$20,000 - $26,000

Senior Counselor

Tongatapu

Qualifications & Experience

  • A recognized diploma or degree or equivalent in counselling (or a relevant field) or working towards.
  • At least 5 years’ working experience working in a similar psychosocial support and counselling role, social work or helping services
  • An excellent understanding of the impacts of domestic and family violence on individual survivors and the wider community and the support needs of survivors of family violence.
  • Strong written and verbal English and Tongan language skills
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sound Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Proven ability to work with vulnerable people
  • Good relationship building skills through experience in liaising at different levels with a range of individuals and organizations, including governments.
  • Sound time and management skills
  • Enthusiasm and ability to work as part of a team while being able to work independently.

Salary Range: TOP$20,000 - $26,000

M&E/Communications Officer

Tongatapu

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Communication, Project Management, Social Sciences, International Relations or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience, directly working in monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in a donor-funded program or projects
  • High level analytical and report writing skills
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing monitoring and evaluation framework and systems, including conducting or managing evaluations
  • Experience with social media and media, and ideally event organizing
  • High level computing skills, including word processing, excel spreadsheets, email and project database
  • Experience in performing to a high level with minimal supervision
  • Enthusiasm to work as part of a small team, to take responsibility for specific tasks, and the ability to deliver agreed tasks on time proficiency in spoken and written English and Tongan
  • Experience working on WEE, gender, VAWG, or similar areas, highly regarded

Salary Range: TOP$18,000 - $24,000

Counselor

Ha’apai

Qualifications & Experiences

  • Minimum of a Graduate Diploma in Counselling (or equivalent)
  • Proof of registry as a fully qualified counsellor
  • Experience working with women that have experienced gender-based violence
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a qualified counsellor or clinical social worker
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • A working proficiency in the Tongan and English language would be highly valued
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently without supervision
  • Previous experience facilitating workshops or trainings

Salary Range: TOP$15,000 - $18,000
