ANZ Tonga donates $15,000 to assist Ha'apai [1]

The ANZ Tonga bank today donated $15,000 pa’anga to the Tonga Red Cross to assist with the relief efforts in Ha'apai following the devastation left by Tropical Cyclone Ian on January 11.

Sione Taumoefolau the Director-General of the Tonga Red Cross thanked ANZ for its timely and generous donation that will go directly to assist with provision of clean drinking water in the outer island.

He said the bank understood the hardship that people experienced following the natural disaster.

ANZ Tonga Acting CEO Noleen Blake said the bank wanted to make a contribution to the important relief efforts that are underway in Ha’apai. “We want those people who have been impacted to know that we firmly stand behind them.”

Chief Operating Officer Melenaite ‘Aho presented the cheque to the Tonga Red Cross at the ANZ Tonga head office in Nuku’alofa.

ANZ Tonga operates two branches in Nuku'alofa and Vava'u, with services for retail, commercial and institutional customers.
