Cyclone warnings and rain was not enough to deter crowds from attending the final of Tonga’s premier rugby club tournament, the 2014 Lavengamalie Cup at a packed Teufaiva Stadium on Saturday January 11.

This year’s final between Toloa Old Boys and Silapelu Ua was a one sided affair. The Toloa Old Boys thrashed Silapelu Ua 27 – 10. The score could have been much worse, as the Toloa Old Boys failed to convert four of their five tries. Silapelu Ua managed their only converted try in the first half.

Along with the prestige of being Tonga’s champion rugby team, the Toloa Old Boys won a cash prize of $35,000.
