King Tupou VI visiting Fiji and Solomon Is. [1]

King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau‘u left Tonga on September 3 to visit Fiji and the Solomon Islands, where the king as Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific, will confer qualifications at the university’s graduations in Suva and Honiara.

The Palace Office in Nuku’alofa confirmed that King Tupou VI will be attending the USP Graduation in Suva on Friday, September 6.

The king and queen would travel to the Solomon Islands for the USP graduation to be held on Friday, September 13 in Honiara.

King Tupou VI was installed as the 20th Chancellor of the university during the USP Tonga Campus graduation on July 26, 2013 in Nuku’alofa, a traditional appointment of people of distinction from around the region.

As Chancellor he becomes the titular head of the university, who confers the qualifications of the university.
