King Tupou VI lays wreath on Remembrance Sunday [1]

A Remembrance Sunday Commemoration Service in memory of soldiers who died in wars in order for people to live in freedom in a peaceful world was held at Tonga's Cenotaph, Pangai Si'i, Nuku'alofa, yesterday November 11 on a beautiful sunny morning.
Tonga's King Tupou VI attended the Commemoration Service for the first time since he ascended the Tongan throne earlier this year.
Heart-felt speeches were followed by readings by church leaders.
King Tupou VI placed his wreath, paying respect to fallen soldiers. He was followed by the Japanese Ambassador, HE Dr Kazuchika Hamuro, the Australian High Commissioner, HE Mr Thomas Roth; the New Zealand Acting High Commissioner, Mr Peter Shackleton; and the Honorary Consuls for Germany Mr Carl Sanft; for Sweden, Ms Aloma Johansson; and for France, Ms Tupou Pasikala Fiu.
Wreaths were laid by military attaché of various countries who were in Tonga; by retired soldiers in memory of their fallen comrades; and community groups, including the Girls' Guide and the Boys Scouts.
