The 100 nights of mourning after the death of King George Tupou V ended on the night of July 4, 2012.

The Lanu Kilikili is a ceremony that is carried out by the Nima Tapu or the Fale Fa. Lanu Kilikili is the washing of the black pebbles and then coating them with fragrant coconut oil, the Hifo Kilikili. The  Kilikili stones were placed in woven basket and passed from hand to hand to be arranged carefully on the tomb, with the larger stones going on the bottom and the smaller stones placed on top.

During the Lanu Kilikili ceremony on July 4  for the tomb of King George Tupou V, the attendants moved on and did the same with all the other tombs at Mala'ekula.

The ceremony was concluded by His Majesty King Tupou VI placing a wreath on the tomb of the late King George Tupou V followed by wreaths laid by other members of the Royal Family. The Queen Mother Halaevalu Mata'aho attended the ceremony.

The Lanu Kilikili ceremony also marked the end of the Nima Tapu's role in the funeral of the late King George Tupou V.
