Hon Simon Tu'ivakano celebrated his first birthday on Saturday, April 14, at Tau'akiloto, Kolofo'ou, Nuku'alofa.

Tonga remains in a somber mood since the death of HM King George Tupou V on March 18, but Simon's birthday celebration brought smiles to members of his royal relatives.

Hon Simon Tu'iha'atu'unga George Ma'ulupekotofa Ngalumoetutulu Tu'ivakano is the first child of Lt Siaosi Kiutaukivailahi Tu'ivakano and Hon. Fanetupouvava'u Tu'ivakano.

Lt Kiutaukivailahi Tu'ivakano is currently serving in Afghanistan with the third contingent of the Tongan Marines, and he is the eldest son of the Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano and Lady Robyn Tu'ivakano.

Hon Fanetupouvava'u is the second daughter of Princess Pilolevu and Lord Tuita.
