Nuku'alofa is in black as Tongans prepare the town for the State Funeral of the late King George Tupou V on Tuesday March 27.
Black and purple bunting is appearing on government offices, shop fronts, fences, poles, trees, and anything that can be wrapped, along the roads from the airport to the Royal Palace in Nuku'alofa - the route the funeral procession will follow after arrival of the King's casket on Monday at 12:30pm.
Cleaning up gardens and the royal tombs, school students, civil servants, home owners and business people have been busy following the news of the king's death in Hong Kong on Sunday.
Special attention is given to the areas around the Royal Palace and Hala Tu'i, the road that leads to the Mala'ekula the Royal Tombs, where the king will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
Students clean up the grounds of the Royal Palace.
