Four members of the Ikale Tahi management team, Sione Petelo, Nafe Tufui, Tevita Va'enuku and Semi Taupeaafe will be on an attachment program with the Rugby Academy and Super 12 Franchise of the New South Wales Rugby Union, Sydney, from January 18-19.
The two weeks attachment will expose the ...Ikale Tahi staff to ... team management and logistics, video analysis, high performance and coaching, planning, pre and post match preparation and analysis, academy program, player selection and team bonding.
The Tonga national coach, Viliami ...Ofahengaue, a former Wallaby and a NSWRU player hopes that the attachment program will be on going., "We would like to forge a close relationship with the NSWRU not only in terms of attachment but also rugby teams from NSW to visit Tonga in the future."
The overseas attachment is part of the IRB Regional Program which began in 2003 with the Northland NPC team in which Vaita Ueleni and Fe...ao Vakata attended the two weeks attachment. Similar attachment has also been extended to the Tonga Rugby Referee Association last year in which two referees attended the Hawkes Bay Referee Association program.
The NSWRU is instrumental in arranging the Tongan National Development Team tour to Sydney and Canberra in March. The Chief Executive of the NSWRU Fraser Neill and an International Rugby Board member, Mr Dilip Kumar will be in Nuku'alofa on July 16 during the Tonga/Fiji Trinations game.
