Seeking democracy in undemocratic ways [1]

Editor,
Just a thought on the recent writings to the Matangi Tonga. A city was burnt and lives lost to force a more democratic Tonga. But now the Demo-Movement leaders will not ratify the CEDAW.
A woman wants to force change by going on a hunger strike. A colleague wants to force change by encouraging women to boycott sex.
I am not surprised but I am concerned about the arrogance and hypocrisy. Democracy but only for a few and seeking democracy in undemocratic methods.
I am told that there are at least three females to every male Tongan in Tonga.
Mele Amanaki should look after her health and Sione Mokofisi should see a psychiatrist until they both can realize that the democratic thing to do is to encourage women that with their voting power they should join hands and vote-in representatives and government leaders that would agree with their agenda and vote-out those that don't.
I would ask the most important women in my life, my sisters and mother, to be very careful what they ask for, it may not be the best for them and for the rest of us.
