Team Tonga flag and baton bearers named for Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 [1]

The Tonga Commonwealth Games Association (TCGA) has selected national Tala netball team captain, Hulita Veve, and swimmer, Finau Ohuafi, to carry the nation's flag and ceremonial baton at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The appointments recognises the pair's sporting achievements and contributions to representing Tonga internationally.
"Being selected as Team Tong's flag bearer is one of the greatest honours of my sporting career," said Hulita.
"It is an incredible honour to to represent our Kingdom on the world stage, and I do not take the responsibility lightly. As I prepare to compete at the Commonwealth Games, I carry with me the pride, strength, faith and resilience of our people."
One of Tonga's leading swimmers, Finau said the honour extended beyond personal achievement.
"I carry this honour not only for myself but for my family, my sport, and every young Tongan who dares to dream," Finau said.
"I will do my very best to represent Tonga with pride, humility and respect and to showcase the strength, resilience, and spirit of our people at the Commonwealth Games."
TCGA said both athletes embodied the values of leadership, dedication and national pride and would lead Team Tonga onto the world stage during the opening ceremony.
The official Team Tonga delegation for Glasgow is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
TASANOC congratulated the flag bearers on their selection and wished all Team Tonga athletes success in their preparations for Glasgow 2026.
The Glasgow Commonwealth Games will bring together athletes from across Commonwealth countries to compete in a range of sports.
