Tonga secondary schools, supported by TongaHealth, are promoting a healthy, drugs-free and safe environment for the 2025 “TongaHealth Secondary Schools Athletic Sports Competition” to be held next week from 7-11 April at the Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa.

The event will help to promote sports and healthy living among young people who come from different schools to compete in sports.

The Principals Association in an advisory, circulated today, stressed that food vendors must provide healthy foods, outlawing sugary drinks, ice-cream, chips, kapapulu and other unhealthy foods, and warned that students are strictly prohibited by law from bringing into Teufaiva Stadium, “alcohol, tobacco, vapes, drugs and any other substances that may contribute to criminal activities.”

“The 2025 Secondary Sports Competition is a corporate partnership between the Sports Committee and the Tonga Health Promotion Foundation, the event’s major sponsor, through the Government of Australia Health Sector Program,” said the Sports Committee of the Tonga Secondary Schools Principals Association.
