Five arrested in Police drugs squad operation [1]

Five people were arrested as a result of a Police drugs operation, while illicit drugs, cash, mobile phones, and a vehicle were seized, Tonga Police reported today.

The Drugs Squad with the powers provided under the Illicit Drugs and Control Act, successfully seized: 28 packs of alleged methamphetamine weighing 2.01grams, 165 packs of cannabis weighing 125.51 grams, drug utensils, TOP$1586 cash, two mobile phones, and 1 vehicle.
As a result of the operation, multiple arrests were made, including two males aged 29 and 21-years from Patangata; a 51-year-old female from Fangaloto; a 53-year-old male from Ngele'ia; and a 38-year-old male from Popua.
All suspects are currently in police custody.
Tonga Police urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to illicit drugs to the nearest police station.
Police investigations are ongoing.
