The ‘Ikale Tahi was defeated by Italy (14-36) on their home turf at Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa, today, 12 July 2024.

Italy scored two tries in the first half and two more in the second. Trulla, Ioane, Lamaro, and Gabisi scored a try each.

However, Gabisi stood out after making three conversions and being the only player this game to receive a penalty.

Meanwhile, the ‘Ikale Tahi managed to score their first try in the second half, with Viliami Taulani who slipped through Italy’s last line of defence.

The ‘Ikale Tahi’s Fetuli Paea scored one last try for Tonga. With just minutes to spare, Italy was a few meters away from another try but, unfortunately for them, the whistle blew and it was full time.

Crown Prince Tupoutoa 'Ulukālala in the grandstand, personally welcomed the Italian team to Tonga before the match.
