Vava'u dominates U16 Women's rugby Sevens Championship [1]

Vava’u girls took the championship trophy in the local U16 rugby sevens competition, held in Teufaiva on 12, 16 and 20 January.
Tackling Ha’apai, Tongatapu and Peauma’a, the girls from Vava’u had an unstoppable winning streak throughout the competition.
The undefeated team also bring home a cash prize of $300 pa'anga.
The prize money was a token of appreciation from the Women and Children Crisis Centre (WCCC) who sponsored most of the prizes for the tournament.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's team defeated the Tonga local team and several others in the Senior XV's championship.
Special prizes were also awarded to Ramona Matelau for 'Best Forwards', Liani Vaha for 'Best Backs' and Vasa Feleti from Vava'u who was the best player of the tournament.
