6.3 earthquake close to Vava'u, felt in Tongatapu [1]

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake, located close to Vava'u and felt in Nuku’alofa at 11:12am this morning, Friday 19 January 2024, is posing no tsunami threat, Tonga Meteorological Service, advised.
This is the second strong earthquake reported in Tonga following a 5.8 earthquake yesterday evening.
"A small tsunami wave is not likely to pose a threat to Tonga, however, unusual sea currents will be experienced along the coasts," Tonga Meteorology said, based on the preliminary earthquake information from seiscomp, tide gauge readings, and advice from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (PTWC).
The earthquake occurred with the following parameters:

Depth: 216KM
Magnitude: 6.3
Location: 114km West northwest Vava’u
The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) is not activated.
