New Zealand's South Pacific Animal Welfare (SPAW) veterinarian team has performed more than 100 free veterinary surgeries in villages throughout Tongatapu, this week, in partnership with the Angela Glover Fund.
Lead Vet Dr Geoff Neal and his team looked at over 200 animals in the last four days, not counting their final clinic today.
The SPAW clinics this week covered Kolovai, Houma, Fu'amotu, Hoi, and finished today, at Tokomololo.
In addition to the normal planned SPAW clinics, this week's clinics were made possible through sponsorship from the Angela Glover Fund.
The late Angela Glover was one of the founding members of Tonga Animal Welfare Society (TAWS) and a huge advocate and ambassador for animal welfare in Tonga. She tragically died on January 15 last year, in the HTHH tsunami event at Kanokupolu.
Meanwhile, another SPAW team is expected to arrive in Tonga for a 5-day clinic starting in Vava’u next week.
