Mariners advised to stay 4km away from Home Reef [1]

One more volcanic eruption was detected in the past 24 hours from Home Reef and prior to this were five eruptions, Tonga Geological Services reported today. Home reef is located soutwest of Late Island in the Vava’u Group and Mariners are still required to remain at least 4km away from the area.
The last eruption was recorded at 1:51am this morning and it was discovered to be predominantly steam, with no ash. The volcanic activities remain infrequent. The volanic islands was 17 acres, as last seen on Sentinel taken on 14 October, at 12:59pm.
The Alert Color Code is green, which means that risks to Vava’u and Ha’apai groups remain low.
However, Mariners are still encouraged to take precautions when travelling at sea and, stay at least 4km away from Home Reef for safety reasons.
