Australian financing delegation discusses Tongan economy, debts, budget suport [1]

A delegation from the Australia Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific, are in Nuku'alofa on a week-long visit.
The Prime Minister, Hon Hu'akavameiliku received a courtesy visit from the delegation on 12 June at the Prime Minister's Office.
Led by Mr. Rob Jauncey, the delegation is joined by Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Lead Economist Mr. Jonathan Pryke, AIFFP Investment Officer Ms Stephanie Golda, and adviser on Startegic Infrastructure in the Office of the Pacific, DFAT in Canberra Mr. Wesley James.
They discussed Australian Government infrastructure financing for Tonga through AIFFP and the broader state of Tongan economy, Tonga's debt obligations and Australia's ongoing budget support, and continue discussions on a range of projects including Parliament House reconstruction, the Queen Salote Wharf and ICT cable redundancy, stated PMO.
AIFFP is part of Australia’s legacy as an enduring infrastructure development partner in the Pacific, delivered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, within the Office of the Pacific.
It partners with Pacific governments and the private sector to design high impact, safeguarded projects and enable their delivery through loan and grant financing.
AIFFP was announced by Australia's former Prime Minister Morrison in November 2018 and became operational on 1 July 2019.
