Murder charge for death in Lapaha [1]

A 39-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a 44-year-old man in Lapaha on eastern Tongatapu earlier this month.

On 5 April a post mortem was held, leading to the charge.

Police today stated information alleged there was a drink up at a cemetery involving the accused, deceased and others on Saturday, 1 April.

Arguments arose leading to a brawl, which allegedly resulted in the assault and serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the accused surrendered himself to Police. He remains in police custody pending a court apperance on a date to be confirmed. 

The Police investigation continues.
