Rev. Dr Tevita Koloa'ia Havea is the new President of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, elected during its 97th Conference on June 22 in ‘Eua.

He takes over from Rev. Dr 'Ahio, who has been the church's President for 12 years, since he was first elected in 2009.

General Secretary

Rev. ‘Alifeleti 'Atiola, who is currently the Principal of Tupou College, was elected as the church's General Secretary.

Meanwhile, HM King Tupou VI opened the church conference last night, June 22 at Angaha.

Also present were Queen Nanasipau’u, Princess Pilolevu Tuita, Lord Tuita, Prime Minister Hon. Rev Dr Pohiva Tu’i'onetoa and many other church members.

The conference was postponed from last year due to national restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

However, the annual event normally brings to Tonga hundreds of its members from abroad, and they were unable to come this year due to the border restrictions.

Feasting is also being held at the conference.
