Tonga overpower Niue in Rugby League test [1]

Hakula Tonga women’s rugby league team proved too strong for Niue Rugby League winning 66-8 in the ‘Clash of the Pacific’ test on 8 November in Auckland, New Zealand.
The match was played at Mount Smart Stadium as part of test matches featuring Tonga, Niue, Samoa, and New Zealand to celebrate the Kiwi Ferns 25th anniversary year.
According to New Zealand Rugby League [2], it didn’t take long for Tonga to score the first try.
Alice Vailea, Mele Hufanga, Malie Taulaga, Manutala’aho Huni, Tongan captain Lilieta Mamau-Pinomi, Sarah Filimoe’atu, and Nancy Sikei Mafile’o racked up 38 points for Tonga.
However, before half-time, Niue received a penalty and captain Bobbie Kamutoa scored a try putting four points on the scoreboard.
In the second half, Niue came out firing and scored a second try.
But Tonga’s Mele Hufanga made a break and ran 80 metres to score extending their lead.
Nancy Sikei Mafile’o, Malie Taulaga, and Sarah Filimoe’atu also scored tries and Hufanga grabbed her third try of the match to help Tonga secure the victory 66-8 at full-time.
The match was a curtain raiser for the Kiwi Ferns vs Fetu Samoa game which the Kiwi Ferns won 28-8.
