New classrooms for Mo'unga'olive College after cyclone damage [1]

A new classroom building for the Free Wesleyan Church Mo'unga'olive College at Kolonga was commissioned on October 2, under a recovery project after the school was damaged by Tropical Cyclone Gita in 2018.
The building has three classrooms and a storeroom, and constructed at a cost of $770,535 pa'anga, under the Pacific Resilience Program (PREP) project led by MEIDECC and co-funded by the World Bank and the Australian Government.
Lord Nuku who commissioned the building as estate holder expressed his gratitude for the financial assistance by the World Bank and the Government of Australia.
President of the FWC Education, Rev Dr. Mele'ana Puloka blessed the classrooms and commended the collaborative efforts and assistance.
The area of each classroom is about 50 square meters, which is a total of 150 square meters. Each classroom can accommodate 25-30 students - a total of 75 -90 students for the three classrooms, said 'Ofa Fa'anunu Director of Meteorology.
Present at the event was the Australian High Commissioner, HE Adrian Morrison; Ministry of Education CEO, Dr. Tangikina Moimoi Skeen, students, parents and teachers of the college.
The PREP project includes the repairing and reconstructing of school buildings damaged by Tropical Cyclone Gita that hit Tonga and ‘Eua in February 2018.
