Vava'u tremor felt in Nuku'alofa [1]

A 6.7mi earthquake centred near the Vava'u Group was felt in the capital Nuku'alofa at 2:14 pm as a strong tremor.
The NWS Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre advised that there is no tsunami threat based on preliminary data:

- COORDINATES: 19.1 SOUTH 173.6 WEST
- DEPTH: 10 KM / 6 MILES
- LOCATION: TONGA
Tonga Police at Neiafu said they felt the earthquake was quite strong but they have not received any reports of damage.
At 2:25pm Tonga Police in Nuku'alofa said no reports of damage had come through.
The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) is not activated. “Based on the felt event over Tongatapu, ‘Eua, Vava’u and Ha’apai the information received and analysis of the Fua'amotu Tsunami Warning Centre , there is no threat for Tonga,” the Tonga Meteorological Service advised.
