Diving death in Ha’apai [1]

The body of a 20-year-old male diver was recovered early Saturday morning, September 19 in Ha’apai waters.

Acting Chief Superintendent Tevita Vailea said today, the victim and other fishermen went out diving on Friday, September 18, near Lofanga.

He said the incident reportedly occurred just before midnight when he did not re-surface.

Others searched for him and his body was recovered in the area shortly after, he said.

It was reported he was out diving for sea cucumbers. A Police investigation is continuing.
