Three arrested with illicit drugs [1]

Three men from two different locations in Nuku'alofa were arrested on Monday, July 13 as part of an ongoing Police Operation to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs in the community.

The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce arrested two men both aged 46 at a home in Hala’ovave.

Seized were 48.46 grams of methamphetamine in 24 packs ready to distribute, 40.05 grams of cannabis and drug utensils. 

The Drug Taskforce also arrested a 30-year-old man in his vehicle on a road in Sopu and seized two packs of methamphetamine (0.68 grams) and drug utensils.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Tevita Vailea said today, all of the accused had been charged with possession of illicit drugs. They are remanded in police custody to appear at the Magistrate’s Court later this week. 

“We are focused on capturing and prosecuting those responsible for the harm these destructive drugs cause to youths, families and our community.” 

He also encouraged anyone who may have information about drug related offending to contact 22784.
