Upgrade for Houma Health Centre [1]

The Community Health Centre at Houma upgraded by the Government of Japan was handed over on May 15.
The project which cost USD$61,228 made under the GGP direct grant scheme, saw the extension of the centre to include a waiting area for patients, doctor exam room and room for the nurse, as well as bathroom facilities.
Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii said the development of a community’s medical system is of great importance, and it was their greatest pleasure to enhance this community’s medical services in order to protect people’s lives.
“I am sure that this project will play a great role in constructing stronger and more resilient societies for the future. Like many countries in the world, Japan is also facing unprecedented difficulties caused by COVID-19.”
He commended the Ministry of Health and Vaiola Hospital for working in good communication with the Embassy on this project.
Prime Minister Hon Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa thanked the Government of Japan for the financial assistance.
“The Minisry of Health greatly appreciates this because it promotes the healthy living of Tongans, one of Government's main priorities.”
The work toward keeping CoViD-19 away from Tonga continues, as well as taking care of those with NCDs, said the PM.
