First 2020 road death at Halaliku [1]

A 25-year-old man from 'Utulau died on Tuesday, January 21 when the vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree on Halaliku Road at around 2:10pm.

Tonga Police said today, the driver was with his wife, who was a front seat passenger, when the fatal crash occured.

He died at the scene, while his wife who sustained serious injuries, remains in Vaiola Hospital.

Police alleged speeding was a factor in the crash.

Meanwhile, no other details have been released at this stage as investigation continues.

This is the first road death for 2020.
