Methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis were seized in vehicles parked at Longolongo, Tongatapu, on November 12.

Acting Commissioner of Police Pelenatita Fe’ao Vaisuai, said today the taskforce arrested a 50-year old man from Fangaloto and a 22-year-old woman from Nukunuku from their vehicles, parked in front of a shop.

The Police Drug Enforcement Taskforce continues to target drug dealers who sell drugs from vehicles.

Police seized an alleged 144.98 grams of methamphetamine, 43.59 grams of cocaine and 12.76 grams of cannabis. 

The Taskforce then went and searched the home of the 50-year-old accused at Tokomololo and seized an alleged 95.91 grams of cannabis and drug utensils. 

“While the search was in progress at this home, a visitor [a 50-year-old man from Hauloto] arrived. He too was arrested after police found one pack of  methamphetamine (0.35 grams) from his vehicle.”

The three accused who have been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs, remain in police custody as investigation continues. 

The Acting Commissioner reiterated Tonga Police's committment to disrupting the supply of drugs and preventing the harm the illegal trade supports.
