A new classroom building for Takuilau College was handed over by the Government of Japan on August 8.

Constructed with USD$84,331 through its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects, the building has four classrooms and a storage room.

Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii said the college has placed a lot of efforts in the technical course to widen students’ future options and opportunities.  

"However, the course lacked classrooms where the students can sit their academic lectures safely. I am happy that we were able to take part in enhancing the quality of learning for your technical department."

This is in addition, to the promotion of technical education and training to equip youth for the future is in accordance with Tonga’s National Development Frameworks, he said.

“It is my sincere wish, that the project will lead to an enduring future success for the students.”

Minister for Finance Hon Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa thanked the Japanese Government for the important assistance.

Takuilau College is a Catholic secondary school situated on eastern Tongatapu.
