Big fish not biting for Nuku'alofa Fishing Club [1]

In spite of beautiful weather for fishing on the long weekend for Emancipation Day, the big fish were not biting off Tongatapu for a two day Fishing Tournament, held on June 1 and 3, hosted by the Nuku'alofa Fishing Club. A 14.7kg wahoo caught by Tasman O’Dey took the first prize at Faua boat harbour.
The Nuku’alofa Fishing Club, weighed-in Tongatapu catches on Saturday, and Monday.
According to competitive fishermen who were out at the break of the dawn to catch their winning fish, both days, Saturday and Monday were nice days and they had high hopes, but surprisingly it did not happen.
The best catches of the two-days tournament were:
First prize - Tasman O’Dey, 14.7kg Wahoo.
Second Prize – Bob Gardner, 14.6kg Dogtooth.
Third Prize – Rahan Razak, 10.5kg Wahoo.
The Top Female Angler was Arzoo, 3.1kg and 3.4kg Rainbow Runners.
The top Junior Angler Gordon Cumming, 2.0kg Jobfish.
The Champion Boat went to Tasman O’Dey, skipper of the Tongan Explorer.
