Water system for Talafo'ou [1]

An upgraded water system was handed over to Talafo’ou on April 5 by the Government of Japan.
The project funded with USD$84,908 grant under a Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects installed two six meter tank stands, a new water tank 5000 gallon, a diesel water pump system, a pump house with fence and replaced the main pumps.
Japan’s Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii in a handover ceremony said Japan highly prioritizes water supply projects in their development priorities.
"We recognize that a clean and stable supply of water as life line is vital for our everyday life.”
Minister for Finance, Hon Dr Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa and People's Representative for Tongatapu 10, thanked Japan for the assistance which will benefit the people in the village.
This will also contribute to achieving the National Strategic Planning Framework in increasing access to quality water supply and encouraging healthy living in communities, he said.
Talafo’ou Village Water Committee sought Japan’s assistance in 2018 to replace the former deteriorating water supply system.
