Police call off search for missing diver [1]

A search and rescue operation to find ‘Alakoni Moala (40) after he went diving at the Liku in Ha’asini for a week now was called off by Tonga Police.

Acting Deputy Commissioner ‘Atunaisa Taumoeapeau said today there have been no sighting of the diver and the search called off on January 24.

Moala from Tu’anekivale, Vava’u living at Ha’asini was reported missing on January 19 after he went out diving with another man. 

He was reported to have drifted beyond the reef and disappeared at around 8:00pm.

A Police patrol boat and divers carried out the search and had only found his diving gear.
