Nukunuku, Tongatapu.

The remains of an abandoned newborn baby was found in a bush area in Nukunuku on Tuesday, November 20, Tonga Police confirmed today.

Police at Nukunuku received a report from a woman who found the remains in a bush area near a road.

“Initial reports from Vaiola Hospital confirmed the newborn was born within 24-hours from when found. We are still waiting on more information,” said the police spokesperson.

No other details were released at this stage, while the Police investigation continues.
