Mate Ma‘a Tonga fans of all ages decked in red and white were out in force today, 19 October, to show their support ahead of tomorrow night’s match against World Champions, Australia, at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand. King Tupou VI showed his support when the Mate Ma’a Tonga had an audience with him at 'Atalanga in Auckland yesterday.
Throughout Nuku‘alofa, red and white decorations and Tongan flags are fluttering in the breeze, on buildings, market stalls, homes, and vehicles.
In Auckland, King Tupou VI greeted the team and conveyed how inspirational they had been to all Tongans.
“We all stand together, very proudly we must continue to inspire our country, our friends, relatives and our fellow athletes, especially our youth who now see potential in what you have demonstrated through physical discipline, training, sacrifice and our Tongan spirit.”
The sold-out test match will be held at Mt Smart Stadium on Saturday, October 20, kicking off at 7.45pm.
