Montfort Technical Institute students celebrate the commissioning of a new dormitory building, Fangaloto. 8 September 2018.

A men's dormitory building for students attending Montfort Technical Institute from the outer islands was commissioned on September 8, in Fangaloto.

Constructed with a Japanese grant of USD$87,831 ($186,000 pa’anga), the dormitory includes a kitchen and bathroom facility.

Japanese Ambassador HE Mr Tetsuya Ishii said the promotion of technical education and training to equip youth for the future is in accordance with Tonga’s National Development Frameworks.

“It is my sincere wish, that the project will lead to an enduring future success for the students, especially for those that come from the outer islands.”

Montfort of the Catholic Church, offers technical courses in carpentry, automotive mechanical and electric engineering.
