HM King Tupou VI bestowed honours of the Royal Military Order of Saint George to members of His Majesty’s Armed Forces and Tonga Police on May 4.

The honours were awarded to five members of HMAF and one from Tonga Police during a private investiture ceremony held at the Royal Palace.

They were Captain Veikune, Aide-De-Camp to HM King Tupou VI, Corporal Havealeta, Corporal ‘Uhatafe, Lance Corporal Mafua, Private Mafuataimi from Tonga Royal Guards and Constable Lelenoa of Tonga Police.

The Lord Chamberlain's Office said the investiture ceremony marked the birthday of King George Tupou V who founded the Order of Saint George in 2009, to recognise distinguished and meritorious service by members of the uniformed services.

"This year’s recipients have embraced their responsibilities; achieved excellence through unresented training, extraordinary dedication, selfless devotion and has upheld their duty of honour."

Brigadier Lord Fielakepa, HMAF and Tonga Police officers with their family members, attended the ceremony.
