The King and Queen of Tonga will travel to China this week on a State Visit from February 28 to March 8, the office of the Lord Chamberlain announced this morning.
The visit by King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u is at the invitation of the President Xi JIngping.
China and Tonga established diplomatic ties in November, 1998 and this year marks the 20th anniversary of the relationship. China stated earlier this month that it is ready to "carry out more mutually-beneficial and pragmatic cooperation to further advance the China-Tonga strategic partnership to a new level and bring more benefits to the Tongan people."
