The Tongan Parliament will reconvene on Monday 5 March at the Fa’onelua convention Centre, Lord Fakafanua, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly announced on Friday, 16 February.

The Tongan Parliament had its last session on 22 January. Historically, it was the last session in Tonga’s old Parliament House that parliament has been using since 1892.

Parliament House was flattened by Tropical Cyclone Gita on 12-13 February.

The Tongan Parliament has many serious issues to deal with, arising since its last session on 22 January.

For starters: the health of the Prime Minister, plans for a new Parliament Building, and how Tonga will go about rebuilding the country after the devastation that had been caused by Gita.
