Athletes who represented Tonga at the Pacific Mini Games 2017 were awarded certificates, with medalists receiving cash prizes on December 21.

Hon Fanetupouvava’u Tu’ivakano handed out certificates and cash prizes of $1,000 pa'anga each to Tonga's four gold medalists in judo, boxing and athletics.

Silver medalists in judo, athletics and netball team received $500 pa’anga, and Bronze medalists received $300 in the sports of tennis, Rugby 7s, judo, athletics, archery, boxing and football.

“I am grateful that your endeavours in the Pacific Games 2017 has lifted horizons and taught us that enthusiasm and passion through hard work and determination that many of you have exceeded leads to great satisfaction,” she said.

Other athletes received certificates of recognition presented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs Sports Division representative, ‘Onetoto ‘Anisi.

The event initiated by TASANOC was held at the Tonga National Centre.
