Twenty-five students from five secondary schools in Tongatapu completed Kaliloa, a Tonga Youth Leadership Program on December 8, at the Police Headquarters in Longolongo.

The Form 3-7 students, both girls and boys from Tonga High School, Tonga College, Tupou College, Queen Salote College and 'Apifo'ou College, camped for a week at the police school, and underwent training on ethics, career development, teamwork, and leadership code, while keeping fit with physical activities, among others.

Police Commissioner Caldwell commended students on their dedication and hardwork both mentally and physically.

He said leadership is one of the most important skills one can learn to be the best person they can be and make the world a better place.  

“The great thing is, you have the opportunity to practice leadership every single day in your home, at school, in sports and everywhere in between.”

Students were awarded certificates of completion.

This initiative by Tonga Police was in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, principals, civil society and HMAF funded by the Tonga Police Development Program.
