The name remains sealed in an envelope secured in a nomination collection box, to be revealed only when a meeting of all elected representatives for a secret ballot will be held, to elect the PM designate.

This goes the same to the name of the two representatives supporting this nomination, which is inside the envelope.

The Office confirmed that Hon Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa, People’s Representative for Tongatapu 10, Minister of Finance, submitted the nomination to the Chief Clerk, Gloria Pole’o.

Meanwhile, there is no restriction on the number of nominees. Nominations are to be seconded or supported by two representatives.

However, a representative can be nominated only once, and represenatatives can support only one nomination.
