Price increases for Petroleum and LPG [1]

New petroleum and gas prices have risen today due to an increase in crude oil prices and regional demand.

The Tonga Competent Authority (TCA) said the retail price of petrol has gone up by 4.43 seniti/litre and diesel by 4.10 seniti/litre, while the retail price of kerosene increased by 2.70 seniti/litre.

The retail price for petrol and diesel are 257.13 seniti/litre and 250.51 seniti/litre respectively. The retail price for kerosene is 173.40 seniti/litre.

Ad-hoc LPD prices increased by 7 seniti/kilo. The retail price of gas for Tongatapu is $3.62 per kilo and for Vava’u $3.67 per kilo.

TCA said the ”Tongan Pa’anga was steady in January therefore the increase in international prices has flowed through higher local prices this month”.

Crude oil prices increased by 1.9%, USD 1.02/bbl from December 2016 to January 2017.

The prices remain effective until the next price review in mid March
