The Tonga Under 20s team have scored a big win over the Cook Islands in their first game of the U20 Oceania Rugby Championship in Suva, Fiji.

Tonga U20s dominated the game, scoring eight tries to beat the Cook Islands U20s 50 – 12. The Cook Islanders managed two tries.

Tonga U20s scored four tries to one in the first half, leading at halftime 24 – 5. The boys continued their momentum after the break, running in another four tries in the second half. Fullback Viliami Kaufusi scored an impressive hat-trick.

The Tonga U20s will play their next and final match against the Fiji 20s next week.

The Fiji U20s played the Cook Island last week, winning 50 – 3. The Fijians also scored eight tries but kept the Cook Islands tryless.

The Under 20 Trophy tournament is being played in Fiji from 26 November to 10 December with participating teams Fiji, Tonga and Cook Islands. The winner will qualify for the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy and the 2017 Oceania Rugby Under 20 Championship (joining Samoa, New Zealand and Australia).
