By not shaving their moustaches for a month, a group of local gentlemen dedicated themselves to raising donations for the Child Cancer Foundation Tonga (CCFT).
Daniel Henson, head of the Bank of South Pacific Tonga handed ‘Evalini Ha’angana, the CCFT President the $1040 cheque at a shaving ceremony held at the Billfish Bar and Restaurant yesterday evening, 30 November.
The Billfish's Robert Sullivan, as spokesperson for the No-Shaving Group said about 10 men shaved their moustaches for the last time on 1 November.
However during the month, a majority of the group had shaved their moustaches.
As of yesterday evening, only four members of the group had not shaved: Daniel Henson, Robert Sullivan, John Caltea and Scott Moller.
“At time I wished I could trim it a little bit,” said Robert, “but now, I can shave it off.”
‘Evalini said that currently five children with cancer are known to the CCFT, “one girl and four boys, ranging in age from four to 12 years old. Four of them with Leukaemia.”
Major sponsors of the moustache growing event were the Bank of South Pacific and the Billfish Bar and Restaurant.
