A new classroom building for the Free Wesleyan Church's Maamaloa Kindergarten at Vaololoa was commissioned on Tuesday September, 27.

The construction funded with $177,217 pa'anga under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) the building has two classrooms, one staff room, storage and 10,000 litre water tank.

The classrooms will accommodate 80 kindergarteners from ages 4-5.

Japan’s Ambassador HE Dr Yukio Numata applauded the kindergarten and PTA on their determination to attain internationally goal of education for all.

He said the teacher from this kindergarten had attended classes for effective inclusive education which aimed to improve the learning environment and address the needs of children with disabilities who also study at the kindergarten.

"I was impressed to hear that the kindergarten and PTA had also ensured the accessibility of all children by asking for a slope to the new building. I am glad we were able to assist your efforts."

Rev Dr Tevita Palefau Vice-President of the FWC Education thanked Japan for the significant assistance, as the church could not afford this.

“We are honoured to have been granted this assistance which is towards FWC's biggest kindergarten."
